Course: Writing a Thesis in English
You’re in the middle of collecting data for your Master’s thesis, or maybe you’re already writing it. Putting together a solid thesis is a tall order, especially if you have to write it in a second language. A course to get you going and help you produce correct academic English might be just the ticket! Taalloket and the University Library have joined forced to produce just such a course: Writing a Thesis in English.
About the course
The Writing a Thesis in English course consists of three sessions of two hours each. We’ll look at some of the most common pitfalls when writing in English as a second language (e.g. unidiomatic usage), academic language norms, English paragraphing and sentence structure. We take a hands-on approach during the lessons: you’ll learn new skills that you can apply to your entire thesis. Furthermore, our instructors will be happy to answer all your questions on writing in English, whether for academic purposes or in a more general sense. You will work on the introduction to your thesis during the course. The instructor will provide you with feedback, and you will fine-tune your work with expert supervision. By the end of the course, your introduction will be ready to go.
